so a couple of months ago, the idea went around the hobbit fandom that someone should do a 1950s greaser au of fembagginshield, and in reaction i scrawled out a quick scribble of thorin as a greaser chick and bilbo as a prep in a poodle-except-it’s-a-dragon skirt because i am nothing if not hilarious

APPARENTLY THIS WAS A REALLY GOOD IDEA, because a bunch of other awesome artists doodled them with bilbo wearing that skirt, and it was super cool, and i felt like such a boss. then i got a message from emilyonthewall @ tumblr asking if she could TURN IT INTO A REAL SKIRT?? WELL, UM, HOW EMPHATICALLY CAN I SAY YES WITHOUT SOUNDING CREEPY?

as it happens, i actually got the skirt in a couple of weeks ago, but the weekend i got it was SUPER BUSY, so i wasn’t able to do more than take these pictures and make a note to write up the post about it later. well uh, i guess it’s later…

i love it SO MUCH wow gosh it looks really well made, the fit is perfect, and the drawing of smaug is EXCELLENT, THERE’S NO AWKWARD SMUDGES, LOOK, IT’S GOT SHADING AND EVERYTHING, how does that happen with fabric paint, we just don’t know, it’s magic

ALSO  I JUST REALLY WANTED TO SHARE THE SUPER CUTE SMAUG DOODLE THAT CAME ON THE ENVELOPE rawr erebor is mine

so to sum up, wow, this is the cutest thing, i’m so glad it’s summer so i can wear it always and hey, when it gets colder i have tights that will go perfect with this. omg i’m going to be the coolest person at the next hobbit premiere, don’t even try to compete with this

but for real i am SO TOUCHED AND GRATEFUL, like, i never expect anything to actually come from my scribbles so this is like, stars in my eyes perfection. endless thanks to emilyonthewall for turning something out of a doodle into something legit and amazing, seriously. <3
